Life On The B Side

Taking all that life throws at us one moment at a time

A Lazy Top 10 Post January 12, 2017

I shouldn’t call this post lazy.  In truth, I should actually probably get some kind of award for working all week and wrapping gifts and writing even though I am all runny nose, puffy eyes , coughing, sneezing and just plain yucky feelings.  I’m kidding about the award but it’s been pretty miserable and I hope I feel better soon.

Until then I just want to jot down the top 10 memorable moments from Jays birthday.

  1. The night before his birthday as we hugged and kissed he said “Goodbye 8. I’m gonna miss you.”
  2. On the morning of his birthday, he put on his khakis, button up shirt, suspenders and bow tie. Then to complete the look he put on a crown.
  3. Jay (wearing his crown) … “This crown is better than a regular birthday hat. I am a Prince.”

Ace … “You look more like a Court Jester to me.”

Me (laughing hysterically) … “Big brother for the take down.”

  1. We went to his school to hand out goody bags and cupcakes to all the students in his class. They were so excited.  When one little boy asked for a second cupcake, Jay said “Don’t be greedy.”
  2. Before the cupcakes and goody bags, Jays teacher said that Jay had previously asked her not to have the class sing him the Happy Birthday song. She asked him if it would be ok for them to say one big “Happy Birthday” – He said yes; but still when she counted from 1 to 3 and everyone yelled out Happy Birthday, he stuck his fingers in his ears.
  3. Once everyone had eaten their cupcake and gone through their goody bags and we were about to settle in to hang out with him, Jay said to us, “I love you but you can go now.”
  4. Jays (approx 6) teachers/aides had gotten him a card and they all wrote notes to him .  {So sweet}
  5. Jay was disappointed that he didn’t get 2 new Bad Kitty books that he had asked for but he didn’t get upset or cry or anything. He pushed through and said he was happy about the Bad Kitty toy he had received and the new easel my Mom sent for him.  (P.S.  He will get the books on Saturday.)
  6. The morning after his birthday, when he woke up the first thing he said was “Is the party over?”
  7. He had a good day and I do thank all the people who helped to make it so and who wished him well on Facebook and via text messages etc.
